ABOUT
THE STUDIO
Hello, and welcome to my studio website! Please feel free to explore the lessons pages to learn more about what I offer.
I am grateful to devote my life to playing and teaching others how to play the most beautiful instrument in the world, the cello!
As a member of my studio, you will find lessons that combine a serious course of cello instruction with a highly encouraging environment that never loses sight of the joy of making music.
In addition to cello lessons, your child can experience the thrill of playing with others by learning how to play chamber music. I teach chamber music both privately and as a part of school programs.
My studio is located in the Inner Sunset neighborhood, which has a dedicated parking space for students as well as generally good street parking.
I started playing cello at age 5 and was fortunate to study under world-renowned cellists and pedagogues, including Irene Sharp, Ole Akahoshi, and George Neikrug. I studied music privately while earning a bachelors degree from Yale, and after college, I completed a Masters in Music and Professional Studies Diploma in cello performance and an Artist Certificate in chamber music at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, studying with Jennifer Culp. As a chamber musician, I have learned from mentors such as Paul Hersh, Ian Swensen, the late William Whitson and Mark Sokol, and the Brentano, Borromeo, Shanghai, and St. Lawrence String Quartets. I am excited to share the wisdom and expertise they have passed down to me with my own students.
